Alexis Mac Allister is an Argentine professional footballer who plays for Premier League side Liverpool and the Argentina national team as a midfielder.
Mac Allister, who was born into a footballing family, began his senior career with Argentinos Juniors in 2016, winning the Argentine second division in his debut season. He joined Brighton & Hove Albion in 2019 but was quickly loaned back to Juniors till the season ended. During his second year at Brighton, he was loaned to Boca Juniors in Argentina, where he won the 2019-20 Primera División. When he returned from loan the next season, Mac Allister had a breakout season for Brighton, becoming a crucial member of the squad. He was their top scorer in the 2022–23 season.
Mac Allister represented Argentina at the under-23 level, winning the CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament and competing in the Summer Olympics in 2020. He made his senior international debut in 2019 and was part of the Argentina squad that defeated Italy 3-0 to win the 2022 Finalissima. He was a member of Argentina’s World Cup-winning team in 2022, and he assisted on a goal against France in the final.
