Joao Virginia joined Everton from Arsenal in August 2018 and was a double winner with the club’s Under-23s in his debut season.
Virginia’s impact was cemented by the Under-23s’ twin victories. He kept nine clean sheets in 12 Premier League 2 games and was unbeaten in Everton’s Premier League Cup semi-final and final wins over Swansea City and Newcastle United.
He made his professional debut for Everton on September 16, 2020, in a 3-0 home win over League Two side Salford City in the EFL Cup. He then extended his contract until June 2024.
