Keane started his career at Manchester United, where he was named Reserve Player of the Year in 2012. He was loaned out many times until joining Burnley on a permanent basis in January 2015. Prior to joining Everton in 2017, he was a member of their side that won the Football League Championship in 2015-16.
Keane made his league debut for Everton on August 12, 2017 against Stoke City at Goodison Park. He scored his first goal for Everton on August 17, 2017, in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League play-off round against Hajduk Split. Keane had climbed highest at the far post to head in a left-wing cross from Leighton Baines.
On 25 August 2018, Keane scored his first league goal for Everton in a 2-2 away draw with AFC Bournemouth before leaving the game on a stretcher and being rushed to hospital after colliding heads with a teammate, suffering from a hairline fracture to his skull.
Keane signed a new contract with Everton until 2025 on August 30, 2020.
