Thibaut Nicolas Marc Courtois is a professional football goalkeeper. He plays for the Belgium national team and Real Madrid in La Liga.
Courtois displayed his exceptional goalkeeping skills from an early age. His parents, Thierry and Gitte Courtois supported him throughout his journey, and he has two siblings, a younger sister Valérie (a professional Volleyball Player), and a younger brother, Gaëtan.
He began his professional career at Genk, a Belgian football club, where he made his senior debut in April 2009 at the age of 16 and immediately established himself as one of Europe’s most promising young goalkeepers.
Chelsea was impressed by his efforts, and he joined the London-based team in 2011.
Courtois returned to Chelsea as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper after three seasons on loan at Atlético Madrid, where he won multiple individual honors and helped the club win the Liga title in 2013-14. During his time at Chelsea, he won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the League Cup.
Courtois joined Real Madrid, one of the world’s largest and most successful football clubs, in 2018.
He immediately became the club’s first-choice goalkeeper and has earned numerous individual trophies and honors, including being named the best goalkeeper in the UEFA Champions League for the 2021-22 season.
Throughout his career, Thibaut Courtois has made an impressive number of saves. He is considered one of the world’s best goalkeepers for his acrobatic saves and mastery of the penalty area.
