Matheus Luiz Nunes is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Premier League club Manchester City and the Portugal national team.
Nunes began his career at Ericeirense before joining LigaPro club Estoril. Nunes spent most of his time with the club in the reserve squad before joining Sporting CP in the Primeira Liga in January 2019. Nunes earned a Primeira Liga title and back-to-back Taças da Liga with Sporting in 2021 and 2022 and was part of the group that won a double in 2021, earning him a spot on the Primeira Liga Team of the Year in 2022.
Nunes agreed to terms with Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2022 for a club-record fee of €45 million (£38 million). He moved from there to Manchester City in September 2023.
Nunes, who was born and reared in Brazil until the age of 12, chose to play for the Portugal national team, making his senior international debut in 2021 and representing the country in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
