Son Heung-min (Sonny) is a professional footballer who plays as a forward for and captains both the Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur and the South Korea national team. He was born in Chuncheon, South Korea.
Son originally moved to Germany as a teenager and came through the ranks at Hamburger SV, scoring on his Bundesliga debut in October 2010.
In 2013, Son moved to Bayer Leverkusen for a club-record fee of €10 million before signing for Tottenham for £22 million two years later (28 August 2015), becoming the most expensive Asian player in history.
Moreover, among his long list of achievements, he won (shared alongside Mohamed Salah) the Premier League Golden Boot award with 23 goals in the 2021–22 season, becoming the first Asian player to win it. In April 2023, he became the first Asian player to score 100 Premier League goals.
Son is a regular at international level. He has represented South Korea at Under-17, Under-23, and senior levels.
