Cristian “Cuti” Gabriel Romero is a professional footballer who plays as a defender (center-back) for Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur and the Argentina national team. He was born in Córdoba, Argentina.
Romero began his career at Belgrano in the Argentine Primera Division, making his debut in 2016. He joined Genoa in Serie A in July 2018 and then joined Juventus in July 2019, with Juventus loaning him back to Genoa for the 2019/20 season.
He was loaned again at the start of 2019/20, this time to Atalanta – a move that was later made permanent.
In August 2021, Tottenham Hotspur announced his signing from Atalanta on an initial season-long loan with an option to make the deal permanent. In August 2022, Romero joined Tottenham on a permanent deal.
At international level, Romero has represented Argentina at Under-20 and senior levels. He made his senior debut in a World Cup qualifier against Chile on 3 June 2021.
