Additional Info
The current Manchester United fullback, Diogo Dalot, joined Porto’s youth system when he was nine years old and grew into a typical modern full-back.
The Portuguese possesses a natural pace, a thirst for attack, and a beautiful cross in his arsenal of skills.
Diogo has already tasted international success, having been capped by Portugal at various levels ranging from Under-15s to Under-21s, most notably at the Under-17 European Championship in 2016, where he scored two key goals and was named to the Tournament Team.
Diogo made 33 appearances in the 2017/18 season for Porto, including one in the Champions League knockout rounds, with four goals and eight assists. Because of the teenager’s undeniable talent, previous Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho moved quickly to obtain his signature.
The Portuguese full-back signed a contract with AC Milan for the 2020/21 season, which was confirmed in early October. He even played against his parent club in the Europa League before helping the Rossoneri qualify for the Champions League by finishing second in Serie A.
He was determined to make his mark at Old Trafford after representing his country at the European Championship finals and scored a header in a pre-season friendly win over Everton. Following the entrance of interim manager Ralf Rangnick, Dalot had significantly more game time, and that consistency and rhythm resulted in consistently good performances at right-back.
Dalot is a frequent member of Portugal’s squad for international friendlies, Nations League fixtures and the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
