Achraf Hakimi was raised in the Spanish capital to Moroccan parents, and he enrolled in the Real Madrid Academy when he was just 7 years old. He developed through the age groups before Zinedine Zidane gave him his first opportunity with the first team at the age of 18.
He spent two years working as a right-back at Borussia Dortmund after getting the Champions League, where he continued improving in the position and solidified his spot in the starting lineup. The defender recorded nine goals and ten assists in the Bundesliga alone during the second season he spent in Germany. He also had a number of incredible performances, such as his two goals against Inter Milan in the Champions League. Antonio Conte was easily won over, and he bought the player who had terrorised his team the previous summer.
He contributed directly to another 15 goals in Italy, where his team won the Serie A for the first time in ten years. A sixth trophy will further cement the 22-year-old’s status as the greatest Moroccan football talent of his time.
