Born to parents with roots in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Timothée Pembélé grew up in the French city of Beaumont-sur-Oise. At age 6, he joined the Persan club, which was barely a kilometre from his home. When he was just 13 years old, he decided to give his love of football a little more attention by joining the Paris Saint-Germain pre-youth academy team to hone his skills as a young defender.

Recognising his potential early, PSG signed him to his first professional contract when he was just 15 years old. After that, he moved up to the French team and at his club, where he played for a new youth squad every year. He competed in the 2020 Olympic Games while representing the tricolores on the U20 team. He stepped down from his U19 captaincy to play for Paris in Ligue 1 and the Champions League for the first time as a professional.
