Manuel Peter Neuer is a professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for and captains both the Bundesliga club Bayern Munich and the Germany national team. He was born in Gelsenkirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
Neuer has been the Bayern Munich goalkeeper since 2011. He started out at his hometown club, Schalke 04. In 2011 and 2014, he was named German Player of the Year, as well as being voted the Best FIFA Goalkeeper in 2020.
Among other things, Neuer won the treble twice (2013 and 2020) with the men from Munich, and since 2017 he’s worn the captain’s armband at the record champions.
Neuer has represented Germany at youth level, and he’s a member of the senior German squad. In 2014, he won the FIFA World Cup in Brazil with the German national team as well as the Golden Glove award for being the best goalkeeper in the tournament.
