Additional Info
Sepp van den Berg is a Dutch professional footballer who is on loan from Premier League club Liverpool to Bundesliga club Mainz 05.
In June 2019, Dutch youth international defender Sepp van den Berg joined Liverpool FC from PEC Zwolle. He made four FA Cup and League Cup matches in his first season at Anfield after the club became Europe’s sixth champions earlier that month.
Van den Berg was an unused substitute as the Reds won the FIFA Club World Cup for the first time by beating Flamengo 1-0 in Qatar in December 2019. He was loaned to Preston North End in February 2021 to get Championship experience and appeared in 16 games, earning him a 2021-22 return to Deepdale.
Van den Berg left Preston after two loan spells with 66 appearances and newfound versatility as a right-sided full-back. The defender was loaned to Schalke 04 for the 2022-23 season after signing a new, long-term Liverpool contract.
In September 2018, he became the youngest player to play at least 10 Eredivisie games, breaking Clarence Seedorf’s record.
