Additional Info
Fábio Henrique Tavares, known as Fabinho, is a Brazilian professional footballer who currently plays for Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad and the Brazil national team. Fabinho is a versatile player who primarily plays defensive midfield but can also play right-back or centre-back.
Fabinho was largely considered one of the best defensive midfielders in the world during his prime.
Fabinho started his career at Fluminense before moving on to Rio Ave in 2012. He spent the entirety of his time in Portugal on loan, at Real Madrid Castilla initially and only made one start as a substitute. He played 233 games in total and scored 31 goals throughout his five years in Monaco, where he also won Ligue 1 in 2016–17.
He joined Liverpool FC from AS Monaco in May 2018. Fabinho was a key player for Jürgen Klopp’s team, winning all major trophies.
Fabinho officially joined Al-Ittihad on a three-year contract through 2026 on July 31, 2023. The deal was allegedly valued at £40 million. As a result, Fabinho moved to Saudi Arabia to unite with his old boss Nuno Espirito Santo. Fabinho’s move to Al-Ittihad was one of several high-profile transfers to the Jeddah-based club, with other noteworthy players joining the club, including Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, and Jota.
Jürgen Klopp said of Fabinho’s departure from Liverpool that he will “definitely” miss him.
