Joel Ward, who joined Palace in the Championship in 2012, has been a key player for the team throughout promotion, an FA Cup final and their longest run in the top division. He is one of the club’s longest-serving players.
After moving to Selhurst Park in 2012, Ward quickly made a name for himself by becoming one of the team’s best players, helping Palace earn promotion to the Premier League and then continue to play in the top division ever since.
One of the team’s veterans with the longest tenure, Ward went on to play regularly for the Eagles and in July 2018, he agreed to a three-year contract extension. When he signed a second two-year extension in July 2021 and was named Player of the Month for October 2021, he made the decision to stay with Palace for more than ten years.
Ward made 250 Premier League appearances in 2021–2022, occasionally leading the team as captain.
