John Egan is an Irish professional footballer who plays for Premier League club Sheffield United as well as the Republic of Ireland national team.

He began his career at Sunderland and had loan spells at Crystal Palace, Sheffield United, Bradford City, and Southend United before being released by the Wearside club without making a first-team appearance. He joined Gillingham in July 2014 and was crowned Player of the Year in his first season, as well as a member of the League One PFA Team of the Year in his second. He joined Brentford in July 2016, where he was captain in his second season. He returned to Sheffield United in July 2018 and was part of the club that was promoted to the Premier League.

Egan has represented the Republic of Ireland at the under-17, under-19, and under-21 levels. He made his senior team debut in March 2017.
