Leon Christoph Goretzka is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Bundesliga club Bayern Munich and the Germany national team. He was born in Bochum, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
Goretzka took up football in his home city of Bochum. Initially, he played for Werner SV 06 Bochum and then, after two years, joined VfL Bochum, where he stayed for 11 years before going to Schalke 04. He’s been occupying the center of midfield for FC Bayern since 2018. He won six trophies in one year with the Bavarians in 2020.
At the international level, Goretzka has represented Germany at various levels, including at under-16, -17, -19 and -21 levels. He made his debut for the Germany national senior team in 2014. He was also part of the German Olympic team that won the silver medal at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.
