Carl Rushworth is an English goalkeeper currently playing for Coventry City, on loan from Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion. Born on 2 July 2001, he came up through the academies of Huddersfield Town and FC Halifax Town before Brighton signed him in 2019. Rather than break into the Brighton first team, Rushworth has built his reputation through a steady run of EFL loan spells, keeping goal for Walsall, Lincoln City, Swansea City and Hull City before arriving at Coventry on a season-long loan in July 2025. At international level he progressed through England’s youth ranks from under-19 to under-21 and was part of the squad that won the 2023 European Under-21 Championship. A composed shot-stopper comfortable distributing from the back, he established himself as Coventry’s first-choice keeper and racked up a string of Championship clean sheets. His loan and his Brighton contract both run until June 2026.
