About
Carlos Baleba is a Cameroonian midfielder who anchors the engine room for Brighton & Hove Albion. Born in Douala in January 2004, he came through the academy at Lille, breaking into the French side’s first team after impressing in pre-season and going on to play more than twenty Ligue 1 matches. Brighton signed the powerful, left-footed defensive midfielder in August 2023 for a reported £23.2m, viewing him as a long-term successor to Moisés Caicedo. He quickly justified that faith, racking up dozens of appearances and claiming the club’s Young Player of the Season award in 2024/25. On the international stage he made his senior Cameroon debut in 2024 and has since become a regular for the Indomitable Lions. Known for his physicality and ball-carrying, Baleba is contracted at the Amex until June 2028 and earns a reported weekly wage of around £10,000.
