David Brooks came back to play for AFC Bournemouth in the last few weeks of the 2022/23 season after being out for a long time because of illness and injury.

In March 2023, he made his first of four appearances as a substitute at Aston Villa. He followed up with the last two games, against Manchester United and Everton.

Due to his mother’s eligibility, Brooks was picked as Wales’ Player of the Year and young player of the Year for the 2018–19 campaign.

After helping Wales qualify for the 2020 European Championship, he saw action off the bench in the team’s round-of-16 loss to Denmark in the tournament’s 2021 finals.
