David Button is an English goalkeeper who currently keeps net for Ipswich Town. A product of the Tottenham Hotspur academy, he made his name at Brentford, where he became first-choice and racked up more than 130 appearances across three seasons, helping the Bees climb out of League One in 2013/14. Spells at Fulham, Brighton & Hove Albion, West Bromwich Albion and Reading followed, taking his career total past 400 senior matches across the Premier League and Championship. The vastly experienced 37-year-old joined Ipswich Town on a free transfer in July 2025, signing a one-year deal that runs until June 2026. Alongside his on-field duties, he was brought in partly to mentor the club’s younger goalkeepers. Known for his shot-stopping and composure built over more than a decade in England’s top two divisions, Button offers Ipswich a calm, reliable presence between the posts.
