Ivan was raised in Northampton and began his career there. When he made his first-team debut in 2012, he was 16 years old, making him the club’s youngest-ever first-team player. Before joining Newcastle United in 2015, he played in 60 games in all competitions and scored 13 goals.

With 31 goals in his debut campaign, Ivan helped Brentford win promotion to the Premier League and set a new Championship record for goals in a season in 2020-21.
