About
Joe Whitworth is an English goalkeeper who plays for Crystal Palace. Born on a leap day in 2004, he joined the Palace academy in 2016 after starting out at AFC Wimbledon, and rose through the ranks to make his Premier League debut against Brighton & Hove Albion in March 2023 at the age of 19, becoming the club’s youngest-ever goalkeeper in the competition. A modern keeper prized for his distribution as much as his shot-stopping, he has represented England at several youth levels and earned the under-21s’ Player of the Season award. He built first-team experience through a productive loan at Exeter City, where he kept 16 clean sheets across 51 games and was named the League One side’s Player of the Season before returning for further loan spells. Whitworth is contracted to Crystal Palace until June 2027, on a reported weekly wage of around £547.
