Biography

Jóhann Berg Gudmundsson is an Icelandic professional footballer who plays as a winger for Burnley in the Premier League and for the Iceland national team.

Jóhann began his senior career with Breiablik before going to Dutch club AZ Alkmaar in the Eredivisie, where they also competed in the Europa League. After a couple of seasons with them, he moved to Charlton Athletic for two seasons before joining newly promoted Burnley, where he spent the majority of the 2017-18 season qualifying for the Europa League.

Jóhann played for Iceland in both the UEFA Euro 2016 and the 2018 FIFA World Cup, assisting Iceland’s first goal in a major event in the former.
