About
Liam Delap is an English forward who leads the line for Chelsea. A product of Manchester City’s academy, where he scored prolifically at youth level and netted on his senior debut in the League Cup, he sharpened his game through loan spells at Stoke City, Preston North End and Hull City. A permanent move to newly promoted Ipswich Town in 2024 made him the centre of attention: he struck 12 Premier League goals as the club’s top scorer and earned a nomination for the league’s Young Player of the Year award. That form prompted Chelsea to sign him in the summer of 2025 in a deal worth around £30 million, beating off interest from several rivals. The son of former Stoke midfielder Rory Delap, he has represented England up to under-21 level. Delap is contracted at Stamford Bridge until June 2029 and reportedly earns £50,000 a week.
