He was born in 2002 in Mar del Plata, Argentina, and he first played football at the age of six for a local team called Kimberley. He later moved on to play for the Velez youth team.

On November 30, 2021, Matas made his First Team debut for the 2021/22 season while playing away at Salernitana. Finally, he made yet another appearance in the match against Venice. His debut came on August 15, the first day of Serie A, in the Allianz Stadium’s 3-0 victory over Sassuolo. This was in the 2022–23 campaign.
