Gross was born in Mannheim, and he started his career in 2008 with Hoffenheim. In 2011, he moved to Karlsruhe, and in 2012, he moved to Ingolstadt.

In their opening Premier League match against Manchester City at the Amex Stadium, he made his Albion debut. After a number of standout performances, he went on to win the club’s Player of the Season award.

The German scored the club’s first-ever Premier League goal against West Bromwich Albion and also headed the vital winner against Manchester United at the Amex to ensure the team’s survival in the top flight.
