About

Wout François Maria Weghorst is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a striker for Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim, on loan from Premier League club Burnley and the Netherlands national team.

Weghorst began his professional career with Emmen in the Dutch second division. He later played for Heracles Almelo and AZ in the Eredivisie before joining VfL Wolfsburg in 2018. Burnley bought him in January 2022 for a sum of £12 million after he scored 70 goals in 144 games for Wolfsburg. Weghorst spent time on loan at Turkish Süper Lig team Beşiktaş and Premier League club Manchester United after the club was relegated from the Premier League.

Weghorst earned his under-21 debut for the Netherlands in 2014 before earning his senior international debut in March 2018. He represented the Netherlands at UEFA Euro 2020 and the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where he scored two goals against Argentina in the quarter-finals.
