Godfrey signed a five-year contract with Premier League team Everton on October 5, 2020, for an undisclosed cost, estimated by The Athletic to be an initial £20 million, potentially increasing to £25 million in add-ons.

The defender made his Premier League debut on October 17, coming on as a 31st-minute substitute after Séamus Coleman was injured in a Merseyside derby against Liverpool.

He was named Everton’s Young Player of the Season at the completion of his first season with the club.
