Walter Benítez is an Argentine goalkeeper who plays for Premier League club Crystal Palace. Born in General San Martín in 1993, he made his name in his homeland with Quilmes before moving to Europe in 2016 to join French side Nice. He grew into a dependable first-choice keeper there, earning France Football’s Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Year award after keeping 16 clean sheets in 35 league appearances. In 2022 he switched to PSV Eindhoven, where he made more than 130 appearances and collected back-to-back Eredivisie titles in 2024 and 2025, the 2023 KNVB Cup and two Johan Cruyff Shields. He earned his first Argentina call-up in 2023 and made his senior international debut against Costa Rica in 2024. Benítez joined Palace in July 2025 on a free transfer following his PSV departure, and is contracted at Selhurst Park until June 2028.
